#### Initial system

This manual is built up for phpBB-3. You can download the current version (on 05.11.2016 it was phpBB-3.1.10) and install it on your local system. We used a XAMPP installation with Apache Server and MySQL Enviroment.

### Use MathJax in phpBB3

• 1

Go the official MathJax-site and obtain MathJax. You can either download the library to your local system or use their Content Delivery Network (CDN). In this example we use the CDN, which must be included in specific files of your phpBB installation. In this example we implement MathJax in the overall header of the phpBB installation.

#### Integrate MathJax CDN into phpBB

Copy the following code line and insert it into the overall_header.html of your phpBB installation. In my example the html-file is located in folder styles/prosilver/template.
copy
<!-- MathJax CDN -->
<script type="text/x-mathjax-config">
MathJax.Hub.Config({
tex2jax: {
inlineMath: [ ['$','$'], ["\$","\$"] ],
displayMath: [ ['$$','$$'], ["\$","\$"] ]
}
});
</script>

<script type="text/javascript" src="https://cdn.mathjax.org/mathjax/latest/MathJax.js?config=TeX-AMS_CHTML">
</script>

Now can use MathJax in your forum. Try e.g. to post $$x^2$$. You should see a rendered formula. Read on another article how to spice up your forum with the LaTeX4technics equation editor.
